Leona Lewis tops the chart

Leona Lewis has left behind JLS, Olly Murs and One Direction to be named as the top selling X Factor performer in the United Kingdom. Leona had won the 3rd series of the popular reality television show in the year 2006. The singer topped a list made by Music Week magazine before the 10th series of the show kicks off.

The list had stated that Leona Lewis has shifted 4.4m singles as well as 3.9m albums in the United Kingdom since she won the show in the year 2006. She has hit three No 1 singles in the United Kingdom charts. Lewis’ X Factor winners’ track A Moment Like This, Bleeding Love (of 2007) as well as her cover of Snow Patrol’s Run was real hits. She also topped the music album lists with her 1st two releases Echo and Spirit. Leona’s most recent studio album was Glassheart released in 2012’s October.

Olly Murs is the 2nd biggest selling pop star in the singles list. He has 3.9m sales in his name, followed by JLS, who has 3.4m singles sold.

The band that ended in 2nd spot in 2008 series beat Olly Murs in the list of album sales, ending 2nd with sales of 2.7m. On the other hand, Murs’ record stands at 2.6m. One Direction ended 4th in both album sales and the singles lists with 1.7m albums and 3.2m singles. Alexandra Burke ended 5th in the singles chart.
